Secure Spaces integration with Blackphone give users unprecedented choice

Secure Spaces provides multiple virtual phone capability to Blackphone – Blackphone’s Silent Space delivers the ultimate in private communications for users.

OTTAWA, Ontario, Dec. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ — Graphite Software announced today that the Blackphone will be updated to include Secure Spaces, adding the unique capability for users to create multiple separate spaces for apps, data and accounts. Secure Spaces is a key element in solidifying Blackphone’s PrivatOS as the most privacy-focused OS in the world. The Blackphone will ship with a default Silent Space that includes the new Blackphone app store and Silent Suite for encrypted communication to create an ecosystem of mobile privacy apps that meets the most demanding security requirements. With additional Secure Spaces, Blackphone users can enjoy the full extent of Android apps on their terms without jeopardizing their personal information and confidential communications.

Secure Spaces gives unprecedented control to users to choose which apps are on their device and what happens with their personal information, while enabling a rich immersive Internet experience when desired. The Secure Spaces virtualization solution enables multiple application environments (Spaces) on a single device. This keeps personal apps and data separate from those used for work, for mobile shopping, for use by kids, and other use cases. No longer must users choose between downloading an app and giving up their personal information. A Secure Space may be remotely managed by a third party, such as a company IT department or mobile operator, without giving up the personal privacy and out-of-the-box bloatware-free experience of the Blackphone.

“Graphite Software has changed the game from a one dimensional view of the device to multiple views under the control of the device owner,” said Toby Weir-Jones, CEO of Blackphone. “We were stunned at how intuitive and obvious it is to have multiple Spaces on a device, which ensures that our Silent Space remains secure. Now that we have Secure Spaces, we can’t imagine using a phone without it. It’d be like living in a one room house.”

“Secure Spaces brings choice to the mobile experience,” said Alec Main, CEO of Graphite Software.  “Until now, there were no options for segregating your apps and personal data. With Secure Spaces you can customize your device as you wish and let trusted third parties provide app recommendations without messing up your configuration or exposing your data.”

Availability of Secure Spaces on Blackphone is expected in January 2015.
